Bipolar Support System was founded by an individual with Bipolar Disorder, Depression and Anxiety. We have been in operation for over 15 years. Bipolar Support System is designed to help individuals with mental health challenges get their voice and maintain wellness through caring and support.
Our Founder and CEO is a person with lived experience in mental health. She started Bipolar Support System at first to help understand her brother's condition after he was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder order. However at the age of 33 she had her first manic episode. She had never been diagnosed with a mental health challenge before. She arrived in her home town to visit her sick mother and ended up in a mental health hospital. She arrived on Friday and woke up Tuesday on the locked ward of a mental hospital. That followed years of not being able to leave the house and multiple stays in the hospital.
However, she was determined to get her life back, so she went to school to obtain her masters degree. She was still able to help individuals like herself understand their illness and help them live a more meaningful life. .
She obtained her masters in Human Resources and Labor Relations. She later became a Certified Peer Specialist; a trauma trainer and clinical supervisor; an Advanced Level WRAP facilitator and received many more certifications in mental health. She uses her knowledge and experience to help others, while helping herself live a better life even with the challenges her diagnoses bring her.
